What is the average hourly CPA rate in South Florida?

The CPA is self-emplyed with 20 years of experience. He is doing estate work and submitting documents to the IRS. What is a fair hourly rate?

whatever his clients will pay

offhand, i’d say $200 an hour. He’s the partner in his firm. 20 years experience. represents clients to the IRS.

and South Florida is an expensive place to do business.

How do I find an entry level accounting position without being CPA eligible?

I now have a bachelor degree in accounting with a 3.8 accounting G.P.A. but can’t find a job because I am short 4 classes of being CPA eligible. I would like to start working while I try to finish those classes but can’t seem to find a job in the Miami, FL or Tallahassee, FL area. Does anyone know of any website or career fairs or something else I could try? Is it just that the economy is bad or that it is Christmas season?

Is it that you aren’t receiving ANY job offers, or that you don’t like the ones you’re getting?

I’m assuming you’ve already checked careerbuilder.com? & tallahassee.com classifieds?

If seriously looking in Tallahassee, contact George Allen at Carr, riggs & Ingram
1713 Mahan Dr
Tallahassee, FL , 32308-1218
Phone: 850-878-8777

He’s a head hunter for various firms. Keep checking back with him until you talk to him personally - he’s hard to get a hold of if not going thru FSU, so be persistent. He set up an interview for me with First American Title when I was trying to finish up my classes for the CPA exam. First American gave me a decent salary and a flexible schedule I needed in order to finish my classes.

Also check with the auditor general - they are ALWAYS looking for people.

Can also check myflorida.com for positions at the state - tho starting salaries at some state agencies are low. But good for some experience while finishing up classes. (P.S. not all state agencies hire at the minimum starting salary, so don’t let that deter you from applying!)

Also - don’t be afraid to apply for jobs that ask for CPA eligibility. Many hiring managers will still hire you if you are a few classes short as long as you agree to finish those classes within a certain date of hire. Where I work, they’ll hire someone who is short as long as they agree to take the classes within a year. But THAT’s usually not stated in the job advertisements ;)

You can also try Robert Half: http://www.roberthalffinance.com/portal/site/rhf-us
I know of some local companies who use Robert Half to find employees.

Also try Capital Career Solutions. I hired some folks they sent to me at First American (if Sheri is still there, tell her I said HI!)

Another one I would use when hiring Accountants was American Employment (Debbie is fantastic!)

There’s such a shortage of Accountants in Tally, you should have no problem finding a job here. I’d love to validate your "Christmas season" theory, except for the fact that I received my job offers for my current job and for my last job in mid-December.

Good luck!
And remember to do cover letters with resume and a follow up letters to interviews.

Will an American CPA qualification fetch good jobs in Australia and Canada?

Is American CPA accepted as a good qualification for jobs in Australia and Canada? Or is it required for the american CPA to do the local accounting courses to get a good profiled job?

American CPAs can easily get good jobs in Canada, I’ve hired a few over the last several years. However, based on the English grammar in your question, you probably would need to take a few courses in that area before anybody would seriously consider you.

File tax online by myself OR let a CPA to do it?

I would like to get more refund thru my deductions. I was wondering if the online website, such as TurboTax & H&R block do the same job like a CPA does. Do u think it is worth to have a CPA to do the tax in order to get more deduction? OR it doesn’t matter because the online website do the same thing as well?
I actually doesn’t have a whole lot to deduct, mostly work related travel expanse.

Unless you have a very involved tax filing, use the IRS free tax service. I did this last year, it was easy with lots of on line help. I got my refund back in record time.
good luck

What’s the difference between PPC and affiliate marketing?

I would like to do both, a combination of PPC and Affiliate marketing how do I get my hands into both? Thank you for the google adsense can you help me with affiliate marketing.

PPC is just what it says, you get paid for each qualified click of a banner or ad you place on your website, whereas Affiliate marketing generally pays you a commision based on sales resulting from a click from your website.

PPC is pretty much gone now, though Google is the main one left. You may also try www.clickbooth.com and www.adbrite.com for more affiliate/commision programs.

CPA licensure question. If I got licensed in Nevada would I have to retake the test to practice in California?

It’s a little too early to call the state board of accountancy to ask. Any CPA’s out there who have had the experience to moving from one state to another? Did you encounter any problems?

From my limited experience, adjoining State’s usually grant reciprocal certificates. Remember, you took a "Uniform CPA Exam," valid in and for all States. The individual boards of accountancy may have different experience requirements and the like, but you should have no major issues. I’d go ahead and contact them to see. No harm knowiing what to expect.

Finding employment with little work experience after becoming a CPA?

I’m going to sit for the CPA exam in a couple months. I meet all the requirements to sit for the exam. I don’t have a lot of relevant work experience, just a year as a business analyst for a large company.

After passing the exam, what are my options?

Do you think it’ll be difficult to find a good paying job?

Thanks.

CPA s are in great demand No reason you could not be checking as to which companies are hiring. Even if there will be a job fair in your area.

What are your thoughts on me changing my career from being a CPA to studying to be a physician?

I am in my mid 20’s and sat for the CPA exam, got my license, but don’t feel like it is my calling. I have flirted with the idea of going back to school part-time and taking pre-med classes while I work as a CPA. If I do well in these classes and well on the MCAT, I feel confident that I would choose to accept my admission into medical school. What do you think?

What the heck? Go for it. Might as well give it a try if you can afford to do so.
